Chuldow Black Belt Graduations July 2018

The July Black Belt Graduations were HOT, the weather was more like a Spanish Island than our own island but despite that the Black Belt candidates approached every challenge thrown at them.

Kickboxing Black Belts

First up was kickboxing on the Saturday with Jack Stead of Normanton, Mary Ann Wood of Wakefield and Ashton Thomas of Rothwell all achieving 1st Dan. The effort, made even more impressive given the weather, was amazing and each promotion earned in sweat as well as skill.

Sunday saw the Karateka hit the mat with no easing of the sunshine, barbeques must have been a more tempting event but the dedication of the students won out. Cy Wilby of Rothwell, Olivia Brady Rothwell, Perrin Read of Morley, Srichand Myneni of Morley, Aiden Huntington of Knottingley, William Hurst of Knottingley and Louie Appleyard, Rohan Damle and Ismail Pervez of Wakefield all achieving 1st Dan after a fantastic display of skill and knowledge.

That was not the end though. Mr Simon Walker and Mrs Christine Walker were on the mat being tested for the not often seen rank of 4th Dan. Showing that improvement and progress in Karate is almost limitless the pair pushed past every challenge and after a gruelling test of skill were duly promoted.

Well done all!

Chuldow Black Belt Graduations May 2018

Saturday 19th of May was hot, very hot for our little island. Nevertheless, the kickboxers of Chuldow Martial Arts came together at Chuldow HQ to be put through their paces with hopes of promotion and no less than ten of those kickboxers were aiming for black belt or higher. As always, the grading was tough, no quarter given for the heat but the sweat and effort were rewarded and the standard of skill, sheer determination and all round positivity were exceptional.

Oliver Hardcastle (Rothwell), Thomas Jagger (Morley), Abeel Mahmood (Wakefield) and Ismail Pervez (Wakefield) were each successful in gaining 1st Dan Cadet, Chris Middleton (Wakefield), Lisa Ashton (Knottingley), Stuart Huntington (Castleford) and Emma Huntington (Castleford) each achieved 1st Dan whilst Janine & Rob Lafferty (Knottingley) reached the exceptionally rare rank of 3rd Dan! Kickboxing Black Belts

As always, the Karateka had their turn on Sunday, forgoing a lie in for a tough test of skill, knowledge and effort. The weather certainly did not let up and neither did the graduation panel but having given their all four new Karate Black Belts joined the ranks of Chuldow.

Karate Black Belts

Chuldow Black Belt Graduations March 2018

Saturday 17th was a fine day, a little chilly but nothing compared to what was to come that evening. For four individuals though there was more to worry about than the impending return of the Beast from The East, Olivia and Chris Brady of Rothwell and Olivia Saville of Normanton were all set to attempt their 1st Dan Black Belt Graduation in Kickboxing whilst Connor Ashton of Knottingley was seeking promotion to 2nd Dan Black Belt. Needless to say the hours flew by with equal measures of technical excellence and sheer determination getting each of them through to the end and ultimately to success. Congratulations to the newest Chuldow Black Belts and Advanced Dan in Kickboxing.

Sunday was Karate Graduations of course and whilst the weather may have decided white was the colour of the day those attending Chuldow were only interested in gaining their black belts. Despite the added difficulty of travelling in the snowy conditions twelve potential Karate Black Belts were on the mats showing their skills. Jayden Tang and Lee Allsop of Normanton, Joe Gordon, Kathryn Clapham, Damien Dean and Brandonlee Sowerby of Knottingley, Holly-Mae Leigh, Joseph Lindley, Phoebe Wood, Oscar Pickard and Theo Georgiou of Wakefield and Elliott Findlay of Rothwell each represented themselves and their Academies well and after a trying graduation were rewarded with promotion to 1st Dan Black Belt in Karate.

A big well done to all!

The newly promoted karate black belts Sept 2017

Achieving a black belt is an achievement to be proud of, it takes hard work and determination but once that goal is achieved it takes increasingly more effort, determination and strength of character to progress beyond it. Mr Martin Bell, a familiar face to many at Chuldow, exceeded that and went on to earn promotion to 4th Dan.

Congratulations to all!
