Saturday 18th of May 2019 was hot, very hot. Many people probably thought the best plan for the day was to sit in the back garden or drive to the coast but that isn’t the thinking that gets you a kickboxing Black Belt and it wasn’t the thinking of Andy Boyes and Jessica Drewett of Wakefield or of Samuel Gardner from Morley. Despite the heat they braved the mats to be put through there paces at the Chuldow Kickboxing Graduations. Both Andy and Jessica pushed themselves to the limit and showed the physical capability and mental fortitude needed to gain promotion to 1st Black Belt. Samuel Gardner pushed on, years after achieving his 1st Dan he was now subjecting himself to the rigours of the 2nd Dan test and having proven himself admirably was successful!

Sunday 19th May was, as always, the turn of the Karateka and neither the weather or the event was going to be any kinder to them than to the Kickboxers! Thomas Hunter and Matthew Spellman of Wakefield, Alex Sawyer and Leon Tipton of Morley and Jessica Henshaw or Knottingley were all put through their paces, demonstrating a high level of knowledge, technical expertise and physical fitness to achieve 1st Dan Black Belt in Karate whilst Ella Tang went above and beyond even this exceptional level of ability to achieve her promotion to 2nd Dan!

Well done all!
